Start planning your 2023 - the CAMP 2023 Schedule is out!
Get your calendar out, and start planning - the 2023 CAMP Schedule of motocamping S'mores and Off Road Rides is now online, and every single one of these events can now be booked! With six motocamping S'mores, three motocamping off road rides, a winter camping event and a Winter Sports weekend, 2023 will be our best season yet. In a nutshell, this is what's on the menu at the moment (a couple of more surprises will be announced soon):
The Ice S'more, our first winter overnight camping event, on January 14-15
Our fourth annual Winter Sports S'more, in Granite Peak, WI, on February 24-26
6 motocamping S'mores, starting in May, and ending in October:
The Driftless S'more, on May 19-21, at Nelson Dewey State Park, WI
The Devil's Lake S'more, on June 9-11, at Devil's Lake State Park, WI
The Michigan's UP S'more, in the Upper Peninsula, on July 7-10
The Colorado S'more, on August 16-21
The Sleeping Bear S'more, MI, on September 14-17
The Smoky S'more, in the Smoky Mountains, on October 19-23
3 motocamping off road CAMP rides:
CAMP Wisconsin Adventure Ride, May 24-29
CAMP Colorado BDR Ride, August 21-25
CAMP Smokey 500 Ride, October 16-18
So what changed compared to last year, and what remained the same?
As a result of the opinion poll we sent out to all members a few weeks ago, we have a couple of new locations in the Wisconsin's Driftless area, while we kept those locations that were crowd pleasers in 2022.
We are clearly indicating for each S'more if you can expect planned rides and GPX files for paved roads only or both paved and unpaved.
We have doubled our efforts in the off road department, not as an alternative to our classic S'mores, but in addition to them. You now have 3 exciting multiday motocamping off road rides, including our very first Backcountry Discovery Ride, in Colorado. Two of these off road rides are scheduled right before or right after our S'mores in the same region (Colorado, Smoky Mountains), so you can mix the best paved options with the best unpaved ones.
What hasn't changed is our focus in making motocamping a) accessible for those who never tried it (our first S'more will have a 101 section for newbies and the possibility to borrow gear for free), and b) affordable for everyone - our S'mores start at $35 per person.
Speaking of - one of the biggest news is the addition of the CAMP 2023 S'more Pass. The CAMP 2023 S’more pass gives you access to the six motocamping S’mores scheduled for 2023 at a much discounted rate per S’more. You can still pay each S'more individually, as you have always done - the price of our S’mores varies between $35 and $80 each, for a total cost of $310 if you were to come to all of them. The S’more Pass costs $260 for the whole season ($240 if bought before December 31st). That’s a $50 saving (or a $70, if bought before the end of the year), enough to come to one (or two) S’mores for free! You do the math and decide if that works for you. And don't forget that you can win a S'more Pass if you renew your membership before the end of December - If you buy a S'more Pass and then you are the lucky winner, we will simply refund you the money you paid.
I hope you are excited as I am for next year. I will follow up in the next couple of weeks with the full schedule of Social and Training events for 2023. In the meantime, feel free to reach out with any questions. And come to our November monthly meeting, on November 16, where we will review the 2023 schedule together. And don't forget our Holiday party, on December 14.
