Join us for a two day motocamping ride of the South East Minnesota Adventure Trail, also known as SEMAT, on July 18-20.
The SEMAT is a 435 mile loop ride through the bluffs of SE Minnesota. Mainly consisting of gravel and minimum maintenance road (similar to the TWAT in this), it can be completed in a couple of days, and this is exactly what we are planning on doing.
This route is ideal both for those who are just dipping their toes into off roading, and for those with more experience. This is the perfect shakedown to test your skills and your gear before you join us for our BDR rides.
A riders pack with a day to day itinerary, GPX tracks, essential information and more will be sent to all participants.
WHAT’S THE PLAN?
We will be camping 2 nights, in the same location, at a commercial campground right on the SEMAT, near Rochester, MN. After meeting on Friday night, July 18, we will ride half of the loop on Saturday, going back to camp for the night. Sunday, we will pack our gear and finish the second half of the loop, and we will then go to our respective homes.
You can leave your gear at camp on Saturday, but you will be carrying it on your motorcycle on Sunday. There is no support vehicle.
WHAT BIKE SHOULD YOU RIDE?
You must bring a dual sport/adventure motorcycle for this ride. All motorcycles need to be street legal. The choice of tires is up to you, but all I can tell you is that off road tires are a cheap insurance against falls. Personally I recommend 50/50 tires (i.e. designed for 50% off road use and 50% paved use). You won’t need them all the time, but when you need them, you will be very happy to have them.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
